Should I race the Xterra off-ride MTB triathlon in road cycling clip on shoes or my running shoes?
Question: Should I race the Xterra off-ride MTB triathlon in road cycling clip on shoes or my running shoes?
I completed my first road triathlon last week on a road bike with shimano SPD clip ins. I am competing in the Hawaii Xterra mountain Men Tri this weekend and I can’t afford new MTB clip in shoes. Should I use my road clip ins or my running shoes with regular pedals?

If you are used to clip ins then stick to clip ins, you will really miss the pedaling efficency if you try cycling in running shoes… But if you have to hike a bike much in road bike shoes it will probably kill your time. I would say look for some cheap mtb shoes, but you probably don’t have time to find any or break them in…
Good luck , hope you do well!
