Question: I just ran a marathon and want to train for a triathlon now. How much time do I need to train?
I am hoping to compete in a triathlon the second week of August, and I am wondering if this is enough time to train for the swim and bike portions of the race.

I guess my question for you is “What is your baseline level of fitness/endurance in the disciplines of swimming and cycling AND what distance of triathlon are you considering?”

Assuming you have ZERO experience with swimming and cycling, I would say that a sprint distance race is easily doable in the time you have. An Olympic distance would be a stretch but possible. Anything beyond that would be difficult without considerable hard core training. If you could currently swim 500-1000m freestyle continuously and cycle for 20-30 miles, then a 70.3 could be done in that time frame and an Olympic would be a breeze.

Having done 3 marathons and 4 multisport events, I can tell you triathlon is so much more fun. I’m currently training for my first full Ironman. Hope you decide to take the plunge.

It can be anything as long as it says that you’re supporting him.

Like …

“Go DAD!”
“You’re the MAN!”
“You can do it!”

Or it could be something a bit related to it like..

“Don’t stop running!”
“Keep it up!”

Don’t stop running would be good. Haha. You wouldn’t want him too.

Need an example of a past participle?

Question: Need an example of a past participle?
Here’s an example that came up in class today:

They have ran the marathon for years. (correction: “ran” should be “run.”)

“Ran” is the past tense of “run,” but “run” is the past participle.

The student had a hard time understanding that the past participle and the past tense can be different, so my question is:

Is there any verb that uses the -ed form of the past participle, but not the -ed form for the past tense?

This year the groovy hipster went to Amsterdam and did it upright.
