The pentathlon is not a part of track and field it is outside track and field, but its events are: swimming, horse back riding, pistol shooting, fencing, and cross country running.
The decathlon events are: 100 meters, 110 hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, discus, javelin, pole vault, 400 meters, and 1500 meters..

I’m currently in the process of coming up with ~10 events for a college dorm “decathlon”. We cannot involve alcohol or drugs, etc. in any events…unfortunately. The teams will consist of roughly 6-8 people and there will be roughly 10 teams. So i was asking the yahoo community if any of you have any ideas?
I was thinking academic/sporting events that basically everyone can participate in, both girls and guys. The teams will not be co-ed, and depending on the events, either guys and girls competition will be in two different “leagues”.

I competed in Track & Field Decathlon competition in high school and college. I am 47 years old now and would love to get back into it. I know there are “Master’s Track & Field” events all across the U.S., but, I have never seen anything about Decathlon competion for Masters-level. Any guidance?

Yes, the USATF has masters track and field meets just like they do for open competition.
There is a separate meet for combined or multi events, at the indoor and outdoor championships they have the pent.
Look at www.usatf.org and go to the masters page.
There are lots of opportunities for you to compete.

Alot of research would need to be done to figure this out. The points system changes in decathlon events and so world records are normally held for only short periods of time. You can keep an eye on this site, they say the records section will be coming soon.
