Can you compete on two teams in the same triathlon?
Question: Can you compete on two teams in the same triathlon?
My boyfriend wants to be a part of two teams in an upcoming sanctioned triathlon. Aka: he wants to complete the swim leg for one team and the running leg for another team. Is this allowed by USA Triathlon sanctioned race rules?
Answer:

Have him ask the race director. These guys vary widely. Answers may fall anywhere from “Absolutely not” to “He can, but the teams can’t be eligible for any awards” to “Good idea”.
There may be a logistical problem if the race goes off in heats, especially if the team he runs for starts before the team he swims for. The organizers might be reluctant to put two different race numbers on the same person. And, last of all USAT probably has some regulation preventing this.
He could also get a little creative and sign up for both teams with slightly different names, ie. on one team as Andrew Davis, and the other as Dave Andrews.
I’m sure he is adequately prepared (or intends to be) but both teams he competes for should be aware that if he is forced to drop out of the race during the swim, both teams are probably going to wind up having to withdraw from the race–He’d have four people who paid entry fees and could not compete.
I would be interested in whether or not he actually pulls it off!

I recently did a half olympic distance triathlon and the training just for that made me almost exhausted everyday. Is it better to train in one leg each day or do all three together? And how do I prevent burning out?

Question: Are Homeschoolers allowed to compete in the Academic Decathlon?
Does the USAD allow homeschoolers to compete in Academic Decathlon? Well i’m not home schooled…anymore but just a thought.
Also what’s your opinion on homeschooled students being allowed to compete?
Answer:

I’m not familiar with the Academic Decathlon, but I do know that homschoolers compete in the National Spelling Bee, and National Geography Bee.
ETA: According to their website. Homeschoolers can compete only if they are allowed to participate in extra curricular activities and they must compete for the school they would attend.

Springed feet and wheels have the same advantage over a traditional runner. They both (springs and wheels) solve the problem of the lost energy a runner experiences with every stride.
Can we equip this same athlete with a bicycle and let him “run” the marathon?
Answer:

This has opened a can of worms.
The tests prove that the springs give this runner an advantage over legs.
The rules do not allow for aides so I don’t understand why they over ruled the IAAF.
He has not meet the qualifying standard to compete, and may not, or his country may enter him in a relay so he can say he was an Olympic athlete.
He says he will also enter the paraolympics following the Olympics, so I guess he wants it both ways.
